The 6th European Congress of Medical Physics (ECMP 2026) took place from 23 to 26 September 2026 in Valencia, Spain. Organised by the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP) and hosted by the Spanish Society of Medical Physics (SEFM), the congress brought together medical physicists, researchers and healthcare professionals to exchange on developments in radiotherapy, medical imaging, particle therapy and other areas of medical physics.
BoneOscopy partner i3M-CSIC participated with its project team, providing an opportunity to present ongoing research and engage with the wider European medical physics community. As part of the congress, Eva Montbarbon presented the poster “Temporal characterisation of proton and carbon-ion beams using a scintillating fibre detector”, highlighting work relevant to the project’s activities in particle therapy and detector development.
"It was my first time participating in this conference, and I really enjoyed it! I especially appreciated the clinically oriented talks, which gave me a different perspective from the physics- and engineering-focused conferences I usually attend. It was really valuable to see how the technologies we work on can ultimately connect with real clinical applications."
Dr. Eva Montbarbon
The event also provided a valuable setting for the wider i3M-CSIC BoneOscopy team to exchange with researchers and specialists working on related technologies and approaches, while increasing the project’s visibility within the European medical physics community.
