BoneOscopy project coordinator Prof. Joao Seco from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg gave an invited talk at the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Mathematics and Physics on 10 November 2025. His lecture, titled “Harnessing Particle Physics for Real-Time Monitoring in Radiotherapy: The Promise of Prompt Gamma Imaging”, addressed how prompt gamma spectroscopy offers real-time verification of particle therapy. He further discussed how insights into beam range and tissue composition can resolve range uncertainties that arise from tissue heterogeneity and patient motion, thereby providing safer and more precise cancer treatments. The event also included a presentation of the laboratories of the Medical Physics Research Group.
We thank Prof. Joao Seco for his educational presentation and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Ljubljana for hosting the event. Their hospitality and support provided an excellent setting for scientific exchange in honour of the International Day of Medical Physics on 7 November 2025.
