Project partner i3M-CSIC introduced Boneoscopy at RSEF / IFIMED Medical Physics Conference

The Instituto De Instrumentación Para Imagen Molecular (i3M), a BoneOscopy project partner and joint research center of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), took part in the RSEF / IFIMED Medical Physics Conference 2025, held at the Botanical Garden in Valencia, Spain, on 27-29 October 2025. The event, organized by the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF) and the Instituto de Física Corpuscular (IFIC), aims to foster collaboration between professionals from various branches of the field (medical imaging, radiotherapy, vision physics, etc.), both from universities and research centers, as well as hospitals and companies.

Dr. Eva Montbarbon contributed with a presentation about BoneOscopy, which offered an overview of the project’s initiative. Her presentation detailed the clinical environment requirements, including beam parameters, and expected variations in calcium concentration. Further, it showed comprehensive results from the simulation studies achieved with Geant4 focused on prompt-gamma generation and detection. Finally, it included an in-depth analysis of critical detector components, particularly the crystal materials and configurations used in the primary detection system.
